Chasing Lillian

Lillian’s cousin Browning is in town, so she got to have a play date with him this evening. Browning was constantly trying to touch and kiss Lillian, but she was having none of it. As usual, she preferred to grab book after book, either reading to herself or to the nearest person.

Lilian said her first words this week while “reading” one of her favorite books. She pointed to the turtle on the page and said “turtle” wthout any prompting. The next day, while reading the same book, she pointed the rainbow and said either “rainbow” or “rabow” – either way, we knew what she was trying to say. That night she pointed to the turtle again while telling us exactly what it was. We know that based on what all she’s done so far, we shouldn’t be too surprised that she started with two syllable words, but it’s still amazing to watch her learn. She was practicing her ca sound this morning, so I’m sure she’ll be up to “commotion” in no time.
