Goodbye Pappaw. We love you!!!

22 Jul

On July 14th, 2009 Ted Mcgill (britney’s grandfather) passed away. He died at the age of 84. Pappaw as he was called in the family was a wonderful person. He was so kind and thoughtful. Always gave lots of hugs. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Even in the hospital he was still cracking jokes. I am SO very thankful that he was able to meet our sweet little girl Lillian. She adored Pappaw. Her favorite thing he did was clap. I think that’s how she learned how to do it. Dave and I were so honored and touched that Pappaw wanted Lillian’s picture in his casket with him. The other great grandkids Ellie, James and Hailey all have their picture in Pappaw’s casket as well. It is so touching to know Pappaw loved his great grandkids that much.

It is always so hard to lose a loved one. You miss them so much and there is always that little bit of emptiness where that person should be. The family has found comfort knowing that Pappaw is in a much better place and has a healthy body. We will see him again one day. The Lord has probably met with Pappaw and said “well done good and faithful servant well done”. I hope and pray that the Lord says the same to me. For that will be my great reward.

Happy Birthday America!!

05 Jul

As many people did we went to the lake for July 4th! We had a blast hanging out with friends and family. Poppy worked hard on making the lake house look perfect for the weekend. Mimi and Aunt Linda picked out some great decorations. Lillian and all her cousins (james, ellie, abby, jake, the taylor kids, haley..etc) all had so much fun playing together. It was fun to watch them all run around outside in the big backyard, swim and play games. Lillian played SO hard up at the lake. She walked and ran all over. She wore everyone out who took turns playing with her. I thought for sure she would nap for a long time. But she only napped for just over an hour. Guess she didn’t want to miss out on all the fun. We count ourselves as blessed to have a wonderful family and place to all get together and hang out. We always have so much fun together. We hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July and was reminded of the reason why we celebrate it. Dave posted some pictures from the weekend in the “Look At Us” section. Check them out!
